JD and Larry have toyed with the notion of forming a band for several years. They've maintained a consistent musical partnership for about 25 years while performing together in the modern worship band at their church. As a young adult, Larry toured with a rock band, and JD has harbored a lifelong desire to establish a rock cover band. Over the last eight years, they've been harmonizing with Bill and have nurtured a robust synergy, both on a personal and musical level. Now, in their well-deserved retirement, they find themselves with the time and energy to give it a shot.
Who We Are.
JD's musical journey began when he got his first guitar at the age of 8 and performed in front of an audience at a young age. Influenced by acts like the Beatles, ZZ Top, Santana, and Rush, he ventured into rock music in 7th grade with his first band, MYTH. This experience ignited his passion for playing and singing rock and roll. He continued to explore music, adding the bass guitar for Jazz band in high school and participating in Christian rock bands like Lightshine and Priority in the early 80s.
Despite pursuing a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics, a postdoctoral stint in Seattle, and a career in biotech, JD remained committed to his music. Over the years, he has led and performed with talented church music teams. Now, as the driving force behind JD and the Shout, JD continues to share his love for music and bring joy to people through his rock and roll performances.

Larry embarked on his professional music career at the age of 15, a journey that would span the next two decades. As a child of the 60s, Larry's repertoire extended from the Beatles to Iron Butterfly, showcasing his diverse musical influences. Following a brief hiatus, he became a founding member of a Christian band at SVPC, a remarkable 26-year musical endeavor. Throughout his musical career, Larry has performed both in groups and as a solo artist, in addition to composing several songs. He's a multi-talented musician, proficient in guitar, keyboards, and vocals, both lead and harmony. Even after all these years, Larry continues to derive immense enjoyment from creating a wide variety of music.
Larry
Bill has been singing since he was a small child and started performing during his high school years. Singing in choirs and small ensembles, and participating in musicals, along with a 50's tribute band, Bill kept busy through high school and college. During his twenties through his fifties, Bill helped lead worship at two different churches, focusing on contemporary, upbeat worship music commonly heard on Christian radio stations. His original retirement plan was to return to the stage and perform in musicals again, but when the opportunity to sing with JD and Larry in a rock tribute band came along, Bill eagerly jumped at the chance to live out a lifelong dream.
